OH YEAH

BRILLIANT

http://www.publishersweekly.com/article/454085-St_Martin_s_Lands_Jersey_Shore_Title.php?rssid=20796

Two of the stars of the hit MTV reality show, Jersey Shore, are hoping to prove that there is more to their lives than simply hair gel, suntan lotion, and skimpy swimwear. St. Martin's Press announced Tuesday that Jenni "Jwoww" Farley and Ronnie Ortiz-Magro have written a book, Never Fall in Love at the Jersey Shore, in which the two explain how to balance work, love, and partying, while properly taking care of hair, nails, and skin -- as well as everything else that goes into living an authentic Jersey Shore lifestyle. The book is being written with the help of Marc Shaprio.

Never Fall in Love at the Jersey Shore will be released in trade paper under the St. Martin's/Griffin imprint in early July, around the same time that the second season of Jersey Shore, set in Miami, is scheduled to premiere on MTV during the July 4th weekend. The deal for North American and world rights was negotiated by St. Martin's editor Alyse Diamond and agent Lori Perkins. John Murphy, St. Martin's director of publicity, told PW that the press has not yet decided on the initial print run, but considering that 4.8 million viewers tuned into the first season's finale, he expects Never Fall in Love at the Jersey Shore to be "wildly popular" with a broad spectrum of readers.

---I would love to listen to this on my IPOD....I hope "The Situation" or Sylvester Stallone narrates this fantastic piece of potentially literary brilliance.

NFL CHANGES OVERTIME RULES

http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/2010/03/23/sports/AP-FBN-NFL-Meetings.html?_r=2&hp

NFL reverting back to college ball? This really annoys me. Just because Donovan McNabb doesn't know the overtime rules doesn't mean the rules should be amended. WACK! NFL has a lot of bigger issues to deal with. This should be a fun time dealing with another dumb rule. NFL = NO FUN LEAGUE.

Indian military to weaponize world's hottest chili

By WASBIR HUSSAIN, Associated Press Writer Wasbir Hussain, Associated Press Writer – Tue Mar 23, 7:19 am ET
GAUHATI, India – The Indian military has a new weapon against terrorism: the world's hottest chili.

After conducting tests, the military has decided to use the thumb-sized "bhut jolokia," or "ghost chili," to make tear gas-like hand grenades to immobilize suspects, defense officials said Tuesday.

The bhut jolokia was accepted by Guinness World Records in 2007 as the world's spiciest chili. It is grown and eaten in India's northeast for its taste, as a cure for stomach troubles and a way to fight the crippling summer heat.

It has more than 1,000,000 Scoville units, the scientific measurement of a chili's spiciness. Classic Tabasco sauce ranges from 2,500 to 5,000 Scoville units, while jalapeno peppers measure anywhere from 2,500 to 8,000.

"The chili grenade has been found fit for use after trials in Indian defense laboratories, a fact confirmed by scientists at the Defense Research and Development Organization," Col. R. Kalia, a defense spokesman in the northeastern state of Assam, told The Associated Press.

"This is definitely going to be an effective nontoxic weapon because its pungent smell can choke terrorists and force them out of their hide-outs," R. B. Srivastava, the director of the Life Sciences Department at the New Delhi headquarters of the DRDO said.

Srivastava, who led a defense research laboratory in Assam, said trials are also on to produce bhut jolokia-based aerosol sprays to be used by women against attackers and for the police to control and disperse mobs.

-----This reminds me of when me and the lovely lady went on a date and we went to an Indian Restuarant in the middle of the summer in NYC and I ordered something very spicy....let's just say i was sweating for the rest of the date. She gave me a look like "is this dude ok? Am I going to have to pour a bucket of cold water on him?" Ahh the memories.

YACHT ROCK

So apparently the easy listening music I listen to is actually called Yacht Rock. Nick informed me of this "new" GENRE which I thought was just some nice relaxing music by mostly singer songwriters who look like they work in bookstores and write music as a hobby. Anyway, make fun of me all you want but this puts me in a fantastic mood. Below are some of the afternoon jams I ease into. It's OK don't be ashamed that you know the lyrics to some of these songs.

Sat was such a beatiful day hanging with such beautiful people. Thanks again KIDS.

"SCULLY: A lot of angry comments aimed at a couple of your colleagues, including Barney Frank and Congressman John Lewis, using the “n” word as some of the protesters jeered at him as he walked through the halls of the Capitol.
NUNES: Yeah, well I think that when you use totalitarian tactics, people, you know, begin to act crazy. I think, you know, there’s people that have every right to say what they want. If they want to smear someone, they can do it. It’s not appropriate. And I think I would stop short of characterizing the 20,000 people protesting, that all of them were doing that –
SCULLY: — those are just some of the stories.
NUNES: Of course. I think the left loves to play a couple of incidents here or there."

ANTOINE WALKER STORY

This guy has always been one of my favorite players in the league ever since his Kentucky days. Unfortunately like the majority of black professional athletes money seems to always be an issue. Whether it's the hangers-on, to the "family" you have to help out, to security, to childhood "friends", to the 20 cars (that only one man can drive), to the 6 houses, and in some instances the multiple children they have to take care of this issue always seems to show its ugly face. Is all of the fame and money worth it when these folks end up right back where they started from? Just my piece:

THE BEAUTIFUL GAME

via skysports

AC Milan star Ronaldinho believes he can earn a re-call to the Brazil squad for this summer's World Cup and is dreaming that he can also take part in 2014.

The 29-year-old is preparing for Wednesday's UEFA Champions League last-16 second-leg clash against Manchester United, but is also thinking about his international career.

Ronaldinho disappointed at the 2006 World Cup and the 2008 Olympic Games, while he was also snubbed by Brazil boss Dunga for the recent friendly victory over Republic of Ireland.

However, the former Barcelona ace has enjoyed a renaissance season for Milan and has recaptured close to the form which saw him earn European and World Footballer of the Year awards in the past.

Ronaldinho is therefore upbeat on his chances of playing at the 2010 World Cup and beyond, telling Radio 730: "I'm always very positive. If I'm playing very well at Milan, I believe I will take part.

"And not only at this World Cup, but also in 2014 (in Brazil). It's my dream. I hope to remain at a very high level until then and I hope to play in both those World Cups."

Ronaldinho added on his form: "My level is the same, the difference is that in Spain we (Barcelona) won a lot of titles. The titles are missing here at Milan, but I think my individual level is the same.

"As for my position, I've already played in the middle, I've played more up front. At Barcelona and here too I played more on the left. I've already played centre forward and also more on the right. So, for me there's no problem adapting."

SKIN COLOR DOES NOT MEAN SOLIDARITY IN BASEBALL

http://www.usatoday.com/SPORTS/usaedition/2010-03-10-committee10_ST_U.htm?csp=34

In this USA TODAY article MLB player Tori Hunter is expressing the sentiments of what a lot of players are feeling about the influx of Latin ball players. In a way I agree with him that there is definitely a lack of African American BASEBALL players but some of his comments were a little off. I think Vlad Guerrero is black but happens to be from the Dominican Republic. Does he consider himself black (Vlad) I think he does but that is besides the point. My point is that these American players are worried they might lose their jobs to foreign born players at the fraction of the salary they were being paid. It is from the school of cheaper labor for the same or even better "work" This is not only going on in MLB but around all professional sports.

One thing i must say is that I do wish there were most baseball fields in the inner city. It seems as if the hood is loaded with basketball courts and churn out thousands of basketball players from the inner city. But there is definitely a lack of golf courses and soccer fields. HMMMMMMM I wonder why?

Let's get some more baseball fields in the inner city. Not just to add more sprinkles in MLB but to allow an alternative to playing basketball and getting healthy.

Looking clean as usual.

I SHOE?

This might be one of the dumbest things I have ever seen. I'm sorry BUT I can't get with this.......

(CNN) -- Erez Lieberman-Aiden had a nagging feeling that his grandmother's death, which occurred after a hard fall, could have been prevented.

But the 30-year-old graduate student at MIT and Harvard did more than fret. He tried to prevent something similar from happening to other older people.

Lieberman-Aiden invented a high-tech shoe insole to help older people manage their balance before a catastrophic fall occurs. His "iShoe" sneaker insoles track a person's balance patterns using digital sensors. The battery-powered footbeds transmit data to computers about a person's walking and standing stability.

"The model of 'I go into my doctor once every six months or once a year to get a check up' is kind of more the speed of a society where people write long letters to each other every three months to be in touch," he said. "Now information can travel all over the place in real time. ... That model is beginning to influence medicine as well."

Lieberman-Aiden was among four students awarded a $30,000 prize in innovation from MIT on Wednesday. The Lemelson-MIT Collegiate Student Prize is given to inventive and entrepreneurial students from MIT, Caltech, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and the University of Illinois. Other winners helped develop affordable prosthetic arms, new diagnostic tests for cancer and other diseases, and new methods for storing hydrogen power.

Aside from the iShoe, Lieberman-Aiden was also granted the award for his work with colleagues on developing new technology to create 3-D models of the human genome, which he said had never been done before. What did it end up looking like? Well, if you zoom in a bit, he said, the twisted genome looks pretty much like a pack of Ramen noodles.

The 3-D modeling methods help scientists understand why cells with the same genetic sequencing can function in such different ways, he said. The answer lies in the macro structure, which lets cells turn certain parts of their gene codes on and off.

As for the iShoe, Lieberman-Aiden said he was frustrated after his grandmother's death, but didn't know quite what to do about it.

"I was aware that [balance problems in older people] was obviously a problem, but doing anything about it had not really clicked," he said.

An internship soon brought him some answers. While working at NASA, Lieberman-Aiden stumbled on a project where NASA scientists were trying to analyze astronaut balance in low-gravity environments. All of a sudden he made the connection. Maybe he could use a similar process to diagnose balance problems here on Earth.

"There are interventions people can engage in in order to improve their balance," he said. "It's kind of like, in some sense, heart disease, where you're increasingly prone to it as you age, but there are treatments that can improve the situation."

The key to a person's balance, it turns out, is not in how well they walk but how well they stand still, he said. So the iShoe takes particular note of how much a person shifts his or her weight while standing. A well-balanced person might shift weight every 40 seconds, he said, but a person with potentially dangerous balance problems might shift weight constantly, or every second.

The iShoe spits out balance data sets that can be interpreted by doctors, or potentially by patients themselves, he said. It uses a Bluetooth connection to transmit the info from a person's shoes to a computer.

The invention is still in the research-and-development phase, but Lieberman-Aiden said he expects it to become a consumer product within a few years. He said he's working with a company to produce the device, and that other manufacturers are looking into the idea, too.

Most of Lieberman-Aiden's time these days is spent working on his genome modeling project. He's scheduled to graduate this spring with a degree in applied math, and health science and technology. He also has a baby on the way.

He said he'll use his $30,000 prize to further his research efforts, help with baby expenses and, possibly, to buy a new couch.

"I do a lot of work on the couch and as a result our couch has become phenomenally dilapidated, so I think we're likely to buy a new couch," he said.

BEARD LOVE

Man why didn't I think of that. It's true my beard gives me an unspoken respect that I never realized until it began growing longer. I get the looks at the airport (is that respect or fear), the head nod from the brothers in the hood (this guy is serious) or from the lumberjack (plaid punks) Brooklyn hipster type who always comment "dude that's a nice beard". Even babies grab it and want to swing on it (that never really quite works out)

Below is a video from a BEARDED BROTHER in the struggle. People often ask me if I am Muslim or ask "how long did that take you to grow and I usually respond with the "This is the 1000th time I have been asking and I am just plain sick of it" look and say "Not that long and leave me the F alone. Damn I wish i was that bold.

Anyway peep the video: MEG LOVES THE BEARD SO I LOVE IT EVEN MORE

SHOULD THE NBA RETIRE #23?

Should the NBA Retire #23? I have my opinions on this topic. Baseball retired Jackie Robinson's number 42 not only because he was a great player but he broke the color barrier and changed the color of baseball forever. Jordan was an amazing player and changed the way defense and offense was played as well as the fashion of the NBA with the baggy shorts and the black sneakers.

I'm on the fence about the entire situation. Maybe if Jordan was a nicer person then i would be totally for it.
