IN
THE WIZ
Book
by WILLIAM F. BROWN
Music and Lyrics by CHARLIE SMALLS
Based on the story: "THE WONDERFUL WIZARD OF OZ" by L. Frank Baum
Choreographed by ANDY BLANKENBUEHLER
Directed by THOMAS KAIL The Wiz, the 1974 rock and soul musical based on the beloved L. Frank Baum story about Dorothy and her adventures in Oz, won seven Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Score and Best Choreography. The Encores! Summers Stars production of The Wiz will be directed by Thomas Kail and choreographed by Andy Blankenbuehler, the duo who brought the Tony Award-winning In the Heights to Broadway last season.
CONFIDENCE
I come from a long lineage of people who often used phrases such as "pick yourself up bwoy", "its not that hard" and "i believe in you" but all these things will never help UNLESS YOU BELIEVE IN YOURSELF.
Sure, we all have our faults but when we constantly beat ourselves about things we "CAN'T DO" and what we need to do is emphasize on the things WE CAN DO.
Everyone has a talent, skill, and/or something that makes them be that STAND OUT FACE IN THE CROWD.
I'm just rambling but its so easy to stay in a funk. Do something difficult for a change and go GET EM.
Read below to give you a swift kick in the ASS!!!
Remember we live in a selfish society and often we need to make our own opportunities.
http://www.mindtools.com/selfconf.html
"Keep managing your mind:Stay on top of that positive thinking, keep celebrating and enjoying success, and keep those mental images strong. You can also use a technique like Treasure Mapping to make the visualization even stronger!
And on the other side, learn to handle failure. Accept that mistakes happen when you’re trying something new. In fact, if you get into the habit of treating mistakes as learning experiences, you can (almost) start to see them in a positive light. After all, there’s a lot to be said for the saying “if it doesn’t kill you, it makes you stronger!”

AMAZING
This is my favorite track on 808's. Hype Williams hits em in the head with another visual masterpiece. Makes we want to take a trip to H.A.W.A.I.
People need to listen to these lyrics "Never gave in...never gave up..."
As much as we get on him for his actions sometimes we need to "BIG UP" ourselves.
It is amazing....

THE ORIGINAL DJ SHADOW
This is a shout out to my boy the "Original DJ Shadow" Adam Gardos. We spent many a suburban summer and long trips back and forth from UMASS listening to DJ CLUE, CRAIG S, S&S and any hip hop mixtape we could get our hands on. Mr G even made a foray into the world of actually spinning the 1's and 2's. Though we were both really lame those times made me laugh and think about life and how carefree it was. Anyway, CHEERS to you my boy. For all of you mixtape lovers here are two links:
1. In case you were wondering what the hell I am talking about: http://members.tripod.com/~DJLarryLar/clue.htm
2. If you want to convert those mixtapes into CD's or your computer. http://www.tech-faq.com/convert-audio-tape-to-mp3.shtml

THIS IS FOR MY BOO
Prince never ceases to amaze me with his artistry. These lyrics are ridiculous but I like this song. I have never heard it before but my lady laaade turned me onto it. After I got over the RETARDED lyrics its growing on me:

It was 7:45 we were all in line 2 greet the teacher miss cathleen First was kevin, then came lucy, third in line was me All of us where ordinary compared to cynthia rose She always stood at the back of the line A smile beneath her nose Her favorite number was 20 and every single day If u asked her what she had 4 breakfast This is what shed say Starfish and coffee Maple syrup and jam Butterscotch clouds, a tangerine And a side order of ham If u set your mind free, baby Maybe youd understand Starfish and coffee Maple syrup and jam Cynthia wore the prettiest dress With different color socks Sometimes I wondered if the mates where in her lunchbox Me and lucy opened it when cynthia wasnt around Lucy cried, I almost died, u know what we found? Starfish and coffee Maple syrup and jam Butterscotch clouds, a tangerine And a side order of ham If u set your mind free, honey Maybe youd understand Starfish and coffee Maple syrup and jam Starfish and coffee Cynthia had a happy face, just like the one shed draw On every wall in every school But its all right, its 4 a worthy cause Go on, cynthia, keep singin Starfish and coffee Maple syrup and jam Butterscotch clouds, a tangerine And a side order of ham If u set your mind free, baby Maybe youd understand Starfish and coffee Maple syrup and jam (starfish in your coffee, you will love it, told ya so) (starfish in your coffee, you will love it, told ya so)

I KNOW THIS HAS BEEN POSTED 1000 TIMES BUT
Ahhhh Hipsters,
It always a bummer when I hear a good friend is having a birthday party in Brooklyn and I am without my car. It is even worse when I am in the land of make believe aka Williamsburg Brooklyn. I swear these people live in a world of holy dirty $200 jeans and ironic t shirts.
Anyway, I was starving and had to experience the full fury of "Willy B" at the local pizza shop on Bedford right off the subway. It was packed with people screaming "look @ me I swear I'm cool, please? look @ ME".
This blog was sent to me by my lady lover love love.
You will be able to see the fantasicness which is candyland Williamsburg.

Office Dress Code
I work in a VERY casual environment and the majority of the office dresses "down" or "casual" but sometimes people take things too far. It seems as if the world stopped caring about looking presentable in the office. I never thought it was appropriate to wear "LIQUID" leggings and a short shirt, or to wear the same clothes that you seemingly wore to bed the night before. I like wearing jeans and a t-shirt just like anyone else but I would rather wear pants and a shirt "business casual" than have to be subject to seeing people wearing sweatpants and a t shirt, a velour sweatsuit (even though it might cost over $100......you are still wearing in home attire) and the unfortunate leggings craze that have swept the US.
Is it ok to wear sweatpants to work? Have some pride in yourself and throw on some denim, slacks, or chino's. Its funny because the women seem to be taking dressing down to the extreme.
College is over people. No sweat or workout attire in the office. PLEASE!!!!!
And as far as the liquid leggings go....... as it always goes....somethingsarenotforeveryone
